About DroneMap

Independent educational publisher · Rules verified: 2026-10-29

DroneMap exists because drone rules are national, fast-moving, and badly summarized. Between 2025 and 2026 alone, the UK lowered its registration threshold from 250g to 100g and introduced a new class-mark system, Canada rewrote its regulations in two phases, and Australia removed recreational registration — while most online guides, search snippets and AI summaries quietly described the old rules. We built this site to be the page you can actually trust before you fly.

How we write

Every country guide is written against the published rules of the authority that makes them — the FAA in the United States, EASA for Europe's shared framework, the UK Civil Aviation Authority, Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Transport Canada, CASA in Australia, CAAS in Singapore and Hong Kong's Civil Aviation Department. Each page carries:

Our editorial promise

Regulations change; ALWAYS confirm with the national aviation authority before you fly. That sentence appears on every country page because it is the operating rule of this site, not a legal footnote. DroneMap is educational information, never a legal opinion — we tell you what the authority says, and the authority always has the last word. If a detail cannot be verified from an official source, we omit it rather than guess.

What we are not

We are not a law firm, an aviation authority, an insurer or a drone retailer, and we are not affiliated with any of them. We do not sell flights, registrations or permits. If you need a ruling on a specific flight — especially anything commercial, at night, over people or near infrastructure — contact the aviation authority of the country you are flying in.

How the site is funded

DroneMap is free to read. It is funded by advertising and by clearly labeled affiliate links to drone accessories; those relationships never influence what a rules page says. See the Disclaimer & Disclosure page for details.
